Driver of PDP MLA detained by Police in Militancy releated Case………

Police have detained driver of ruling Peoples Democratic Party legislator Aijaz Ahmad Mir for “investigation into a militancy related case”.

A source said Touseef Ahmad was picked up by police this morning for “questioning”.

Confirming the development, superintendent of police Shopian, Ambarkar Shriram Dinkar, said Touseef was “cooperating with the investigators.”

“It is related to a militancy case,” he said. “I will be able to comment on the case when the investigation reaches at certain stage.”

Touseef, a resident of Chokura Pulwama, had been deputed as driver with the MLA some seven months ago from security wing of J&K police.

Aijaz, who represents Wachi constituency, said he was in Chandigarh for a health check up. “I was told by the SP that he (Touseef) has been picked up for the investigation into a militancy related case,” said the MLA.

The source said police has arrested two more persons along with Touseef for their alleged involvement in the same case.

Wachi has emerged as a fertile ground for new age militancy in Kashmir. A police official said around 25 militants, belonging to both Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiaba, come from this constituency.

Two top militant commanders from Hizb and LeT, Saddam Paddar and Waseem Shah alias Osama respectively are residents of Heff, Zainapora in Shopian. They are the only surviving militants from the group picture that included slain Hizb commander Burhan Wani which had gone viral on social media some years ago. The picture was believed to have been shot somewhere in Shopian.

In March 2015 a policeman, Naseer Ahmad Pandit, guarding the house of PDP minister Altaf Bukhari had decamped with two rifles. Pandit, a resident of Kareemabad Pulwama, was however killed in an encounter later.
