Don’t raise pro-Daesh slogans: Geelani to youth……..

Asking people to repose faith in the resistance leadership, the chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Sunday said the ongoing movement in Kashmir has shifted to younger generation and it would continue till New Delhi fulfills its promise of granting right to self determination to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. In his recorded Eid message, Geelani urged the youth to show character and refrain from raising slogans which are detrimental to the freedom movement. “It has come to my notice that some youth are raising slogans of organizations like Daesh (ISIS). Such slogans have nothing to do with us. Our struggle is sacred and meant for the resolution of Jammu and Kashmir issue. We should remain united and people should have trust in the leadership,” he said.

Accusing New Delhi of continuing with its “policy of oppression” in Kashmir since 1947, Geelani said: “More than six lakh people have sacrificed their lives during the past more than six decades for resolution of Kashmir. Even today people continue to give their blood to this sacred movement. Our struggle will succeed one day.  We should remain steadfast in our resolve and show character as per Islamic teachings.” Reminding Government of India of its promises to allow resolution of Kashmir as per people’s aspirations, Geelani asked new Delhi to implement the UN resolutions on Kashmir for its permanent resolution. “People should be allowed to choose their destiny. Unfortunately India is crushing our rights on the might of gun,” Geelani said.   He said the ongoing killings in Kashmir are painful. “We are never happy at the loss of lives be it our jawan or Indian jawan,” said Geelani who has remained under house arrest for most of the time since 2010.
