9 CRPF MEN INJURED
At least nine Central Reserve Police Force personnel were injured in a grenade attack at Lariyar, Tral in Pulwama district on Tuesday.
“Militants hurled the grenade at the Mess Hall of 180 CRPF battalion this evening, injuring nine personnel,” commandant of the battalion told.
He said the injured were shifted to Army’s 92 Base hospital in Srinagar where their condition is stable.
Soon after the attack, the area was cordoned off and searches launched to nab the attackers, the commandant said.
Militant outfit Hizbul-Mujahideen claimed responsibility for the attack. “Hizb appreciates the mujahideen (militants) who carried out the attack on CRPF,” local news agency KNS quoted Hizb spokesman Burhan-u-Din as saying.
Pertinently, on Monday night, suspected militants lobbed a UBGL grenade at CRPF headquarters of 180th battalion in the main town, leaving two CRPF men wounded.
2 COPS INJURED, 4 RIFLES SNATCHED
Two policemen were injured when suspected militants attacked policemen guarding the residence of Justice (retd.) Muzaffar Attar in Anantnag (Islamabad) town and decamped with four rifles, officials said.
“At around 8.30 pm, masked gunmen, believed to be seven, barged into the residential house of Justice (retd) Attar at Anchidora and then broke into the guard room and tried to snatch weapons from four cops who tried to resist the move,” an official said.
He said the militants opened fire which was retaliated to and in the process, two policemen were injured. “They were moved to district hospital Anantnag immediately,” he said.
The injured policemen were identified as constable Muhammad Shafi and special police officer, Bilal Ahmad.

The police official said militants after carrying out the attack decamped with four SLR rifles from the guard room.
Soon after the incident, police, army and paramilitary forces cordoned off many localities of the town including Anchidora, SK Colony and Laizbal and carried out searches.
PULWAMA POLICE STATION ATTACKED, 2 COPS INJURED
Two policemen were wounded when suspected militants hurled a grenade at police station Pulwama on Tuesday evening, officials said.
They said the grenade exploded with a bang, causing minor injuries to two policemen. “The policemen fired in retaliation but the attackers escaped from spot,” officials added.
“Soon after the attack, forces personnel rushed from Police Lines towards the spot but as they reached the town, youth pelted them with stones,” witnesses said. “The forces fired some shots in air and also lobbed some teargas shells. The forces later cordoned off a nearby area.”
When contacted, senior superintendent of police Pulwama, Choudary Muhammad Aslam said: “The grenade exploded in the premises of police station. Two policemen sustained minor injuries. Minor clashes broke out in the town after youth pelted stones at forces personnel.”
CRPF CAMP ATTACKED IN AWANTIPORA
Suspected militants lobbed a grenade towards a camp of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Padgampora, Awantipora in Pulwama district late Tuesday evening, police said.
Superintendent of police Awantipora, Muhammad Zahid Malik said: “A hand grenade which was hurled at CRPF E 130 battalion exploded a few meters away from the camp. It didn’t cause any damage.”
Locals said after the explosion, the area was cordoned off while people going for Taraweeh (night prayers) were seen running for safety. A search operation in the area was underway when this report was filed.
ARMY CAMP ATTACKED IN SOPORE
Suspected militants attacked an Army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles camp at Pazalpora Sopore in Baramulla district late on Tuesday evening.
Commander of army’s 22 RR said: “Militants fired two shots from a distance and managed to escape from the spot.” The gunshots triggered panic in the area.
Meanwhile, superintendent of police Sopore, Harmeet Singh claimed that “nothing happened in the area and rumours are being spread to create panic.”
2 SOLDIERS INJURED IN TRAL ATTACK
At least two army personnel were injured in a grenade attack at Nader Tral in Pulwama district late on Tuesday night, police said.
A police official said: “Militants lobbed a grenade at army’s 42 RR camp near Lurgam, Nader. The device exploded with a big bang inside the camp, injuring two soldiers.”
“The militants after hurling the grenade fired from a distance and managed to escape. A search operation was launched in the area to nab the attackers,” he said.
He said reports about gunshots being heard at bus stand Tral also came in.
