2014 Kashmir Floods: Batamaloo traders protest, yet to receive compensation

Scores of traders from Batamaloo area of Srinagar on Wednesday staged protest against what they said bouncing of cheques issued in 2015 as compensation for losses suffered during 2014 Kashmir floods.

The protesters said that as a compensation to the traders of Batamaloo constituency for the losses suffered during the floods of 2014, the district administration had issued cheques of Rs 25,000 and Rs 50,000 in 2015 to the affected traders but the amount is yet to reflect in their bank accounts.

Around 3,300 cheques are yet to be cashed. We fail to understand why we are denied compensation even almost three years after the deluge,” they said
