Two Central Reserve Police Force personnel sustained injuries as suspected militants attacked their camp at Tral, Pulwama with a grenade late on Monday night, police said.
“Militants lobbed a UBGL grenade at CRPF camp of 180th battalion in main town. However, the gunmen took advantage of darkness and fled from the spot,”.
As per reports, two CRPF personnel sustained minor injuries and were stated to be stable.
Soon after the attack, additional reinforcements were rushed to the area in bid to nab the gunmen.
Meanwhile, suspected militants late last night fired at the residence of former minister Ghulam Hassan Khan in Shopian, triggering panic in the area, police said on Monday.
A police official said some gunmen fired at Khan’s house at 10.40 pm. “The security guards on duty retaliated with firing. Soon, policemen came out of local police station and fired in the air till they reached the spot,” he said.
However, the militants had escaped from the place, he said.
The government forces later searched the area in bid to nab the attackers, but couldn’t locate any.
Locals said the firing triggered panic in the area.
Khan was present in the house when the firing took place.
Khan is an old Congress man but won the election on PDP mandate in 2002. He became a minister as well and later returned to Congress.
